Director of Business Development

Overview

Responsible to identify and direct the business development efforts for BRPH Companies; to identify and pursue new markets and prospective clients; to maintain client contact; to coordinate the efforts of various capture managers and market segment leaders; to provide positive public relationships through activity in community organizations and professional associations.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

 

Reports directly to the CEO/President of BRPH Companies; works closely with Market Sector Leaders and Officers.

Responsibilities

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Contribute to the development of the Company’s strategic plan as part of the executive team

 

Work with Market Sector Leaders to assign capture managers for all new business pursuits

 

Determine new markets to pursue that are aligned with the Company’s strategic plan.

Review go/no go for pursuing projects

 

Establish performance objectives for each selected market

 

Identify prospective markets and clients; contact prospective client executives and determine their needs

 

Conduct research of new markets and team partners

 

Coordinate reports and other documentation for ease of retrieval

 

Orchestrate the presentation and arm the team with all they need to make a successful presentation

 

Develop plan for attendance at trade shows and for providing BRPH subject matter experts to speak at appropriate forums

Responsible for sending publications/firm material to clients

Seek new markets and clients and provide positive public relationships through membership and active involvement in community organizations and professional associations

 

Create and maintain computerized client and contact databases

 

Attend and participate in regularly scheduled, weekly meetings of the Management and Administrative teams

 

Work with Market Sector Leaders to prepare an annual business development budget and work to that budget

 

Coordinate with marketing manager and communications manager to ensure business development efforts are aligned

Qualifications

Knowledge of:  

 

AE&C market trends, clients and effective business development techniques.

 

Operational characteristics, services and activities of a professional services office.

 

Federal, state and local regulations and policies for the advertisement and selection processes for Architectural and Engineering Services contracts and Construction Services contracts.

 

 

Ability to:

 

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

 

Participate confidently at the executive level.

 

Work within a flexible schedule, which will include early morning, late evening, and weekend meetings and social engagements for the purpose of remaining active in organizations and associations and meeting with clients.

 

Travel out of area and out of state to attend meetings, make presentations, and otherwise represent the company in a professional capacity.

 

Interact with clients and other professionals appropriately in both professional and social settings.

 

Present a professional appearance in both person and products.

 

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.
