This role plays a crucial part in building and supporting technology solutions, as part of our Technology Service Delivery team, this role will partner with our infrastructure, development, business, and cloud delivery teams to create manage solutions and ensure operational excellence across our growing suite of products.
Technology experience working in the hosting of mission critical financial environments servicing both UNIX and Wintel Platforms. Hands on understanding of Linux servers in a virtualized environment.
Perform support functions, to ensure the necessary services are provided and availability of the system is maintained within our 7x24 financial environment.
Ability to interact with management and project management teams to communicate operational status, project status, and business value of services produced.
Act as a single-point of contact for tier1 and tier2 monitoring and operations teams. React to alerts within the environment and be able to resolve or escalate them in a timely manner.
Ability to troubleshoot complex problems, providing root cause analysis and remediation to mitigate future risk with appropriate Technical and Operational staff to resolve issues.
Provide clear communication/escalation/follow up and closure to business impacting events involving multiple Broadridge teams and external partners.
Work on break/fix hands on Solaris and Linux platforms as well as interaction with external parties for escalation or hardware / software support tickets
Work in a heavily matrix managed, geographically dispersed team with globally deployed resources.
Implement and co-ordinate the creation and enforcement of technical service procedures, policies, and manuals, maintaining excellent verbal & written communication
Provide off-shift on call work as required as well as performing off shift weekend changes.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or associated discipline or equivalent 5-7 years’ experience
2-3+ years’ experience in Service delivery related roles and/or functional roles for Systems Administration of SuSE/Redhat Linux systems and Solaris Virtual environment in a large scale production environment preferably financial services
Knowledgeable in Server administration using Oracle Solaris features such as containers/ zones, LDOMs, disk mirroring, ZFS, explorer, NFS, RBAC, Solaris 9/10, Sun Disk Suite, Veritas Volume Manager, virtual networks, sun cluster, and Veritas cluster.
Knowledge in highly scalable, highly resilient solutions in AWS data centres leveraging a mix of EC2 images and native cloud services.
Good knowledge of VMware virtualization products including but not limited to ESX, vSphere, and vMotion.
Familiar with MQ, Apache, JBOSS and or Websphere
3+ years of installing, configuring, maintaining, and deploying IBM MQ Server
Thorough knowledge of good server and system administration principles.
Knowledge of disk management tools such as LVM2, Veritas Volume Manager and Solaris Volume Manager.
Knowledge of core protocols such as TCP/IP, SSH, SMTP, LDAP, NFS and DNS.
Knowledge of Solaris zones and Linux Logical Volume Manager required
Knowledge of clustering tools such as Veritas Cluster Server
Familiar with SAN storage, in particular the EMC or IBM Storage arrays
Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system problems.
Knowledge and experience with shell scripting (ksh, bourne, bash, csh, etc).
Familiarity with project management techniques to plan and execute projects.
Monitor for and react to alerts within the environment and be able to resolve or escalate them in a timely manner
Provide clear communication/escalation/follow up/closure of alerts and outages to multiple teams within the organization.
Writing and improving team runbook procedures
Maintaining excellent verbal & written communication
Ability to take ownership and run with multiple production issues, from alert to hand-off or resolution
Interaction with external parties for escalation or hardware / software support tickets
