Senior Accountant

Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all finance and accounting related functions in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary environment. Duties include financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, capital asset requisitions, government tax remittances and surveys, audits, ad-hoc reports for management and managing various ongoing and upcoming systems conversions.

Key Job Functions/Responsibilities

Month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reporting
Monthly balance sheet reconciliation using Blackline system (preparation, review and approval)
Federal and provincial sales tax returns
Accounts Payable processing of vendor invoices (Markview system)
Intercompany transactions, liaising with other Broadridge business units (U.S. and U.K)
Perform Sarbanes Oxley testing
Preparing for external audits and liaising with auditors
Conversion accounting
Capital asset requisition business cases, when required (E-CARs)
Ad-hoc reporting for management
Communicating with internal staff, vendors and clients to ensure a smooth conversion to the new systems
Training end users and answer any inquiries on new A/P and Expense Report systems

Basic Skill Level Requirements


Certified General Accountant designation or enrollment in CPA program
Bachelor's degree in Accounting


You must have at least 3 years of full-cycle post designation accounting experience
Manage projects to successful completion
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously


Excellent time management, communications, organizational and decision-making skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Work with little supervision
High level of accuracy and ability to meet deadlines
Possesses key attributes that promote the ability to work with individuals at all levels within an organization
Excellent computing skills, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook
Solid knowledge of accounting procedures
Knowledge of securities industry preferable


Proficiency with Oracle, Blackline system, 170 Markview and TM1is an asset
