Industrial Engineer Co-Op

Our co-ops will get a technical foundation and acquire leadership skills, project management experience, and cross-functional process knowledge. They will also obtain experience in developing and documenting key processes.The candidate will work on projects that have a measurable impact on our business. Upon completion of the degree program, successful candidates will be recommended for hiring at any of 9 Tire manufacturing facilities, 10+ Diversified operations facilities & Bridgestone Americas Corporate offices. Additionally, successful candidates will the recommended to Bridgestone America Navigator program (College graduate trainee program).
Conduct Industrial Engineering analysis projects, particularly in capacity utilization, and productivity/process improvements
Ensure that the appropriate methodology, measurements, tools and quantitative techniques (e.g. data collection, computer simulation, statistics, process flow analysis, etc.) are applied in projects
Establish standard production rates.
Communicates with personnel from both the office and production environment in order to complete work assignments.
Assists with facility layout/simulation
Creates Process Documentation
Junior, Senior, or graduate student in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
Knowledge of Industrial Engineering, Work Measurement and Human Factors principles via coursework or prior experience
Preference given to candidate with complete coursework in: Simulation analysis/design; Stochastic manufacturing; Supply Chain modeling; probability/statistics
Effective research and communication skills
Mathematical skills including geometry and algebra
Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel & Access)
GPA 3.0 or higher
Ability to work independently, learn new tasks/handle multiple tasks, solve problems, meet deadlines, and show strong self-motivation and initiative.
Additional Qualifications Preferred
Ability to create drawings using AutoCAD
Ability to simulate process flow/material handling environments
Demonstrates the use of Lean principles
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill
Prior related work experience, including co-op/intern programs with a focus on problem solving
