BRICK currently operates a successful region in Newark, New Jersey and is excited to expand to Buffalo. 
The BRICK Buffalo Academy Charter School is scheduled to open in August of 2023 to students in kindergarten and first grade. As a result, BRICK Buffalo is recruiting founding team members who are committed to proving what is possible for students and families on the East Side of Buffalo. The Principal In Residence (PIR) is a step towards becoming a founding Principal at BRICK Education Network. The residency is a full time, paid learning opportunity that provides the PIR with knowledge, best practices, and leadership development from a current BEN principal. As a PIR, you will serve as a member of the school’s leadership team and gain hands-on leadership experience. The PIR will also be supported and evaluated by the Buffalo Superintendent. The ideal candidate’s actions must always be aligned with our mission and core values as well as possess a genuine love and concern for the success of their teachers and students. Upon successful completion of the residency, the PIR will be eligible to serve as a a founding Principal of one of our BEN schools. 

Essential Functions

  • Attend and participate in grade level meetings
  • Support implementation of the school’s curriculum and educational model
  • Develop a deep mastery of the subjects and grades in which the school leader oversees and coaches
  • Assist in the development teacher’s knowledge and implementation of BEN’s best practices and instructional methods
  • Observe and participate in data analysis meetings that will help teachers analyze data and create reteach plans
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of school programs
  • Maintain a positive school culture that aligns to the BEN core values


  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years of Teaching Experience
  • Principal Certificate or a Letter of Eligibility for Principal
  • Strong leadership skills and a demonstrated capacity to manage people in a work setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment

Salary and Employment Period

  • Salary Range: Competitive compensation package
  • Full time
  • Employment Period: 12 Months
  • Retirement and Health Benefits are included with full time employment
