Staff Software Engineer, Policy Management

Purpose
Our team's mission is to build a platform that enables all the teams at Box to make intelligent compute, storage and routing decisions in an optimized, compliant and transparent way.

Thanks to partnerships with all the major public clouds (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, IBM), Box is uniquely positioned to take advantage of their many locations, services and features. At the same time, our enterprise customers have sophisticated needs in terms of data residency, networking, encryption and compliance. The policy management platform is responsible for determining where to run a given customer workload based on a set of constraints and optimizations, as well as providing transparency as to which decisions were made and why they were made to other systems and teams.

We are a small, newly built team at the intersection between the infrastructure and business logic layers. We work very closely with our Public Cloud, Platform-as-a-Service and Storage teams to deliver Box unique, cloud-agnostic approach to Cloud Content Management.

Why the team needs you
We need someone passionate about global-scale infrastructure challenges, with a taste for a customer-centric approach. You ideally have expertise building low-latency, distributed systems, and you can also empathize with customers and other Box teams such as Compliance, Security and Finance. We hope to learn from you about policy management, rules engines and similar systems you may have developed in your career.

Why Box needs you
Box is growing fast. Real fast. Every business in the world is looking to modernize the way that they work. As the leader in cloud content management, Box is the only company that can help enterprises transform how people work together. Box aims to run in a cloud-agnostic fashion, using the best from its partners by building and improving its policy management capability. That's where you come in.

Why you need Box
You will have the unique opportunity to join a small team that sits at the core of Box strategy. You will further your experience in distributed systems at the global scale, and also develop an eye for business daily.
