Senior Full- Stack Engineer, Enterprise Governance

We build products related to analytics, security, data lifecycle management, quality and future architecture. Teams within the group include: 

 

- Enterprise Insights: near real-time customer-facing analytics 

- Enterprise Security: products for defense in depth corporate security strategy

- Enterprise Governance: legal and compliance products (retention, classification, deletion)

- Enterprise Domain: backend team building abstractions for users, groups, role, permissions and other logical enterprise domains

- Enterprise Experience: frontend team building components, libraries, and services for the enterprise user interface

- Enterprise Excellence: automation team focused on test, release, and security automation frameworks for the organization

 

Role and Team

As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer on Enterprise Governance, you'll be leading the effort in building our data lifecycle management platform which enables administrators to be compliant with legal requirements and regulations. The Enterprise Governance team, much like the rest of the Box Platform, offers a broad spectrum of technical challenges due to the number of users, files (and file versions), and company size, we support.  We are looking for teammates that are excited about architecting for scale and passionate about defining the future of our data lifecycle platform. Specific features we currently support include:

 

  • Retention Managementallows customers to set automated policies to control preservation and deletion schedules of business documents
  • Security Classificationstrigger alerts or restrictions when files are uploaded, downloaded or shared, and extend Data Loss Prevention policies into Box with our trusted partners
  • Legal Holdsallow customers to easily comply with legal reviews with the ability to identify relevant content, preserve documents,  and prevent information deletion / modification

As part of the Enterprise Backend team, you will help drive the product and technical vision as well as deliver critical features that generate revenue for the company through enterprise engagement as well as an add-on SKU. You will have an opportunity to design and release new services and integrate with existing systems across Box. 

 

What you'll be responsible for

  • Key contributor to the technical roadmap of the enterprise organization
  • Drive the design and implementation of features related to enterprise 
  • Influence our team's processes and execution methods
  • Coach and mentor other engineers and teams
  • Collaborate with others senior engineers across our organization to define our technical strategy  

Who you are 

  • Several years of experience as a software engineer
  • Pragmatic experience decomposing monolithic applications into service-oriented architectures
  • Fluent in any modern object-oriented or functional programming languages such as: Java, Scala, PHP, Javascript, Node.js
  • Act like an owner and strive to do work you're proud of, both technically and in your team interactions

Welcome experience 

  • Experience executing projects involving distributed systems
  • Technical lead in the past for a team of at least 3+ engineers 
  • Able to influence other teams to align with your technical and product vision
  • Played with the Box APIs or developed your own APIs
