Manager, General Accounting
We’re looking for a high energy, highly motivated, hands-on individual with the people skills to work with leaders and business partners across the organization and be part of a high performing team. This role will manage the day-to-day activities, month-end close, and projects as assigned surrounding fixed asset, capital leases, and general accounting within the Americas Shared Services team at Redwood City, CA (Box, Inc. HQ). This role will report into our Director of Americas Accounting and Shared Services. A successful candidate must have the ability to operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment, be able to manage multiple stakeholders and groups simultaneously and have strong communications skills.

Our Fixed Asset Accounting team oversees all aspects of Fixed Asset Accounting and Reporting such as reviewing fixed asset and capital leases processes, including but not limited to, purchase acquisitions, in-service, depreciation, disposition, review of fixed asset roll forward reconciliation, review of flux analysis on B/S and I/S balances. Accordingly, our experienced team is looking for someone who will be a trusted accounting resource for cross-functional teams and is passionate about working cross-functionally with other teams to foresee potential accounting issues and recommend practical solutions associated with contemplated business transactions. This team member will also be tasked with various projects to build world class processes and systems as Box continues to scale and provide SOX/audit support related to fixed assets, capital leases, and general accounting.

Who you are
You are a team player with a strong accounting background with experience in fixed assets and capital leases. You’ve had prior management or supervisory experience with highly effective communication skills (verbal and written). You are inspired by the idea of working with others to have a lasting impact on an organization and are looking to take on challenging problems with impeccable integrity. You have the ability to develop strong partnership and influence people effectively to ensure the best outcome for Box. In addition, you have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately, and ensure set deadlines are completed timely within accounting standards and SOX compliance.
Here's the fine print:
- You have 5-7 years of accounting experience with specialization in fixed assets; capital leases (lessee) accounting experience desired
- You have at least 1-2 years of supervisory/managerial skills
- You have a BA degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Economics
- CPA encouraged but not required
- You have a strong understanding of US GAAP and are familiar with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements
- You have strong communication (written and verbal), organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in the SaaS industry preferred
- Excellent MS Excel skills; NetSuite and Anaplan experience a plus.
