Creative Director, Design Lab

Box is looking for an experienced Creative Director to run our in­house Design Lab and lead the creative output from our agency relationships. You'll oversee creative activations across digital, video, print, and emerging media that bring to life the Box brand and role in driving the Future of Work. We're at the onset of bringing to life a more fresh, relevant and powerful brand to the marketplace, and your role is key to building experiences that make our promises real. You'll partner with the VP of Brand, heads of Content Strategy and Media and our CEO to drive breakthrough ideas that resonate.

We're looking for a player/coach — we need you to be both a thought leader and a doer. To set the vision for brand activations and champion exceptional ideas throughout the organization. Get into the weeds on storytelling, or shining a light on how great experiences come to life and shepherding throw test­ and­ learn best practices to drive the business forward. You will also be in charge of the Design Lab itself: from roadmap to key hires to the tools needed to make great work.
You'll oversee teams of visual and interaction designers, partnered closely with data scientists, content strategists and campaign managers, to bring user­ centric thinking and world­ class experience design into everything we do. Optimally, you'll be the voice of brand excellence, continuously championing the brand inside and outside the organization.
This role requires at least ten years of experience in similar roles — design directors and creative directors within advertising or interactive agencies — leading world­ class content creation for Fortune 500 brands. Experience with large, integrated cross channel campaigns is a must.

  • Directing and guiding the execution of world­ class talent, helping to shape amazing work both by directly executing and by inspiring designers to do the best work of their careers
  • Act as an ambassador for the global brand program at Box, and continue to nurture relationships across our marketing organization to foster world­ class work
  • Responsible for building, codifying and maintaining a world­ class, principles­ based and global visual identity system. Continuous evolvement of the design strategy and the pattern of our brand is a must
  • Ensuring all touch points are on­brand, coherent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice across all channels online, social media, email, point of purchase, mobile, video, print and in­ person
  • Participates in post­mortem reporting, including evaluation of process and infrastructure
Required Skills/Background
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience, with not fewer than three (3) in a creative leadership position, with an Advertising, Digital or Design Agency (or in­house equivalents)
  • A bias towards visual storytelling
  • Another bias towards social activation and participatory marketing
  • An exceptional portfolio of groundbreaking work that inspires others to sharpen their pencils
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must
  • Excellent presentation skills; able to seamlessly move across conversations at all levels of the organization, from field marketing to the C­-Suite
  • Background in broadcast, digital or print production
  • Strong industry knowledge and connections with both agencies and production houses
  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, or related fields (Masters preferred)
