The Operations (OPS) practice area is one of BCG's largest practice areas. We serve ten broad topics: Program Management & Implementation, Cost & Efficiency, Lean Manufacturing, Lean Services, Procurement, Operational Transformation, Customer Service OPS, Supply Chain Management & Logistics, Research & Development, and Large Capital Project Management. We help companies think beyond the limits of their traditional business models, choose where and how they should add value, and reorganise to defend themselves against new threats and seize new opportunities. The Operations practice provides the capabilities and the experts to help our clients create a competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and enabling them on their journey to operational excellence
What You'll Do

As an Expert Associate Director within BCG's Operations Practice, you will be recognised by clients as an expert in your area and be seen internally as one of the faces of your topic delivering innovative procurement solutions. This role will support clients in enhancing their procurement value delivery through improving category strategies, supplier partnerships, negotiations, and sourcing approaches, as well as leveraging digital and new ways of working to increase procurement value add. You will contribute to client cases, workshops and proposals spending much of your time onsite during staffing assignments to understand client requirements.

As an Expert Associate Director, you will team with senior BCG leadership to generate significant growth in strategic priority areas. You will be directly involved in project execution to increase the value generated to clients, while playing a vital role in helping to build intellectual capital and the BCG brand. While continuing to play an important role in supporting and executing client work, Associate Directors transfer knowledge to a team around them (including traditional consultants)-hiring, coaching, and mentoring junior team members to support your area of expertise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Bring high quality expertise in the Procurement topic that delivers value to client organisations across a variety of industries. Our procurement practice has a strong footprint in resources and retail.
Play a leading role in the growth of our Operations Practice and the Procurement topic through case execution, client development, and intellectual property & product creation
Support clients in enhancing their procurement value delivery through improving category strategies, supplier partnerships, negotiations and sourcing events; designing and standing up best-in-class procurement organisations, incl. organisational design, process improvements, capability building; identify and implement digital roadmaps for procurement, including automation, advanced analytics and Agile.
Execute client work in a case team either as an advisor, individual contributor, or case delivery lead
Experience leading large procurement transformations
Proactively pursue knowledge of cutting-edge research, technologies, and methodologies
Provide mentorship and support to more junior consultants to ensure continuous individual development
Support presentation of key findings and recommendations to C-level executives
Contribute to proposals together with the senior leadership of the OPS Practice
Build awareness for BCG's Procurement competence across a variety of industry communities
Contribute to Procurement intellectual property: conduct primary research, develop and refine ideas, methodologies and tools, design learning material, capture credentials and best practice

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG's ability to successfully meet our clients' demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the 'best of BCG' to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

At least 10 - 15 years of top-tier consulting experience or a combination of consulting and industry experience in a senior leadership position gained in procurement at a market-leading company.
It is essential that you have deep experience in procurement transformations and have achieved significant and proven results with prior clients.
Prior experience developing procurement IP
Experience in digital procurement solutions is desirable
A track record of project/team leadership and related achievements
A track record of driving and delivering high-value work, (e.g., owning the process, content and day-to-day client or team interactions)
Strong analytical skills and a high capacity for conceptual thinking. Must be able to thrive in a hypothesis-based environment where inductive rather than deductive reasoning is the norm
An ability to think creatively, be adaptable and curious
Preferred advanced degree in Engineering, Science and/or Business Administration from a top-tier university.

YOU'LL BE BASED IN
Ideally Melbourne, Sydney or Perth.

YOU'LL BE TRAVELING
Travel is expected and will vary based on project needs.
