Cyber Security Developer


Booking.com is looking for a Security Developer to join our Technology Department at our Amsterdam headquarters. We are one of the biggest e-commerce companies in the world. Our Technology Department is more than 100 teams of four to six people each. We operate on a scrum-based agile development methodology; we are data-driven and do extensive A/B testing on both user and partner facing platforms. A Security Developer will be part of our Cybersecurity team to both help design, enhance, and build our security tooling, as well as supporting the product development teams with security guidance. Application development/coding experience is required together with a deep understanding of Information Security and Secure Coding principles. Important aspects of the job include:

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure secure coding best practices are followed
  • Collaborate with development teams to support remediation of software vulnerabilities
  • Assist in the development and leading of regular training/awareness programs to train and educatedevelopers on secure code development practices
  • Evaluate new security technologies and trends and provide recommendations to strengthen theinformation security program
  • Participate as a subject matter expert in the incident response
  • Participate in the on call rotation within security
  • Assist in configuration of web application firewalls
  • Perform security reviews of applications including responsibility for driving requirements definitionand risk analysis B.Skilled We are looking for driven Developers who enjoy solving problems, whoinitiate solutions and discussions and who believe that any challenge can be scaled with the right mindsetand tools.

We have found that people who match the following requirements are the ones who fit us best:
  • Minimum of 3 years software development
  • Experience with other languages like Perl, Go, Python, Scala, C++ etc. is a plus
  • 2+ years of experience working as a Security Developer
  • Experience with open source Pen Testing software, such as Kali or Burp Suite
  • Excellent understanding of web applications, web servers, layer 7 application technologies, frameworksand protocols with respect to application development and deployment
  • Strong technical background in software security design/implementation and data protection
  • Have deep understanding of OWASP Top 10
  • Previous experience with distributed systems
  • Hands on experience of developing in and contributing to open source data technologies, such asHadoop
  • Demonstrable experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
  • Experience of working on products that impact a large customer base is an advantage
  • Preferably a university degree in Mathematics or Software Engineering
  • Excellent communication; written and spoken
