Team & Role:

BNY Mellon | Pershing has been a leader in clearing and custody services for more than 80 years. The Line of Business Risk team (first line of defense) for Pershing works primarily with the Institutional Solutions unit, which focuses on bringing the most stable and trusted global clearing infrastructure in the marketplace to Broker-Dealers, Investment Banks, Hedge Funds, and Asset Managers. As Lead Analyst, Line of Business Risk, you will assist with the ongoing independent oversight of day-to-day risk management activities, client, product, and process change risk assessments, and risk reporting for Pershing. You will work with the business line to evaluate their existing processes and activities and help to address any control gaps. The role will encompass assessing, monitoring, and reporting on operational, fiduciary, reputational, business, and strategic risks inherent to Pershing.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:
  • Engage in credit underwriting:
    • Perform annual review of the firm's clients with a strong focus on Hedge Fund and Prime Brokerage clients
    • Perform ad-hoc reviews for prospects and/or any limit modifications that need to be approved by the Credit Committee
  • Contribute to Pershing's compliance with the Risk Management Framework by assessing risks, monitoring the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment, and monitoring and challenging business activities
  • Assist with the development of reporting on output of risk management activities
  • Support appropriate completion of steps involved in identifying possible risks during the creation or modification of new products and processes and all non-standard business acceptance events
  • Complete risk and control documentation as needed

The successful candidate will demonstrate/possess:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to appropriately interact with the business line
  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • 3-5 years of total work experience (preferred)
