The Diversified Strategies Team within MASS manages c$20bn in outcome oriented and benchmark aware strategies for retail and institutional clients globally. The team has a fundamentally driven asset allocation process, a strong tradition of alpha generating investment research across different asset classes, and a track record spanning 20 years.
Position Overview
BlackRock is seeking a Vice President to join the London-based Diversified Strategies team, where they will be responsible for alternative and volatility risk premia strategies and tactical option ideas as a key part of the team's alpha research process.
Candidates should possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, as well as a proven ability to work in collaboration with a wide range of partner teams. This role has considerable scope to have an impact on both the success of the team, as well as the broader MASS business. Successful candidates will possess outstanding attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and have a passion for thinking critically about financial markets both across and within asset classes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a suite of alternative and volatility risk premia strategies as a part of the broader book, working with internal and external partners to ensure efficient implementation.
- Propose tactical option ideas as best expression of team macro views or opportunistic portfolio hedging across equity, FX, fixed income, and commodities.
- Contribute to overall team macro and market insights, both through team discussions and quantitative inputs to fundamental macro idea generation.
Experience/Qualifications Required
- 4-10 years working experience, with significant exposure to alternative and volatility risk premia, or other quantitative investment strategies, for example through research/portfolio management or structuring.
- Extensive knowledge of derivatives, especially equity derivatives but experience across other asset classes would also be beneficial.
- Excellent quantitative research skills, evidenced by an advanced degree in a quantitative field, such as Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Strong programming skills preferred (especially Python).
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Curiosity about macroeconomics and financial markets, with confirmed experience/knowledge in the area.
- Flexible, adaptable and self-starting personality. Proven experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment.
This role is within the scope of the Senior Manager and Certification Regime(SMCR).
