About this role

BlackRock Finance consists of finance professionals in disciplines including Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Treasury, Tax, Finance Controls, Sourcing and Vendor Management, Finance Platform Support and Controllers. Treasury Accounting, which is included within Controllers, is a team with presence in Atlanta and New York, responsible for corporate investment accounting activities globally.

Job Purpose/Background:

The Treasury Accounting Team is responsible for the monthly accounting and reporting of BlackRock's corporate investment portfolio, derivatives, fund consolidations, cash accounts, external debt, and alternative fund reimbursements. This includes:

  • Utilizing and maintaining global software to facilitate payments and investment accounting
  • General ledger control for corporate investment and derivative accounting
  • Alternative Fund reimbursements control and reconciliation
  • Support business growth through technology and scalable process improvements


Key Responsibilities:
  • Record investment activity in sub-ledger system, reconcile and report
  • Reconciliation and collection of Alternative Fund reimbursements
  • Ensure timely application of incoming receipts and maintain appropriate supporting details for outstanding receivables
  • Assist in the reporting of monthly non-operating income to management
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations to the general ledger
  • Partnering with the business/stakeholders to gain understanding/improve end to end processes
  • Participate in testing and other ad hoc projects, including technology enhancements
  • Partnering with business management and global accounting service teams to resolve queries and enhance controls


Development Value:
  • This is a globally focused role in a team which is core to Finance Controllers. The role interacts with both Finance and non-Finance teams around the globe providing opportunity to understand business growth and product development while developing key relationships
  • This role will provide the candidate with the scope to effect positive change to the control environment by harnessing system capabilities and constantly evaluating processes and procedures to create value for the firm


Knowledge/Experience:
  • 3-6 years of public accounting experience (preferably in the 'Big 4') or work experience in Corporate Accounting a plus
  • Working understanding of investment products and related accounting topics preferred
  • Knowledge of Oracle Financials, Aladdin, and Coupa is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
