About The Role

This role will primarily create curriculum and content for clients and internal staff teaching them how to use our range of financial software products.  Materials are required for both instructor-led and self-paced classes, and for both live face-to-face and virtual eLearning sessions.  Additionally, this role will assist with the ongoing assessment of content and make recommendations to improve materials based on best practice adult learning principles.

Being an effective team member at Black Mountain overall requires the ability to multi-task, be accountable, and to prioritize and track a large number of tasks and responsibilities, without losing focus or becoming overwhelmed.

Core Responsibilities

  • Engage with subject matter experts, trainers, managers, clients, or other designated parties to set specific learning objectives and outcomes, and ensure that content matches those objectives
  • Analyze instructional needs and then design content in the needed formats and mediums that align with those needs e.g. video-based, written manual, instructor-led, web-based, self-paced, simulation, etc.
  • Develop all relevant materials related to program roll-out, including learner materials, pilots, and facilitator enablement
  • Ensure that content is intuitive, informative, consistent with current instructional design and learning principles, and is organized into a logical instructional flow appropriate for user’s level of expertise
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of courses and content
  • Continuously analyze training content and materials to ensure they meet current needs and standards, and proactively provide suggestions and recommendations for improvements
  • Maintain project documentation and perform related administrative tasks as needed
  • Deliver scope and estimates for level of effort for project deliverables as needed
  • Support continuous improvements by submitting product enhancements requests, bugs, and documentation updates (Help Files, Release Notes, etc.)

Essential Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Minimum 2 years of professional instructional design experience, in a corporate setting
  • Experience with storyboarding e-Learning content
  • Intermediate knowledge of authoring tools including Adobe Captivate, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Creative Suite to create and edit video-based multimedia learning content, and Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Previous experiencing with a corporate Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Knowledge of learning theories and methodologies, instructional design models, and curriculum planning
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, storyboards, audio, and video scripts
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required in related field (relevant work experience may be substituted)
  • Experience in financial industry is strongly preferred
