MSL Team Lead - Northern Germany (f/m/d)


Principal Accountabilities:


  • Leadership & Management
    • Responsible for the leadership and management of the therapeutic team of Medical Science Liaison Managers (MSLs) North.
    • Ensure the assessment of MSLs competencies, skills and effectiveness incl. setting and executing on MSL-specific KPIs.
    • Deliver MSL-specific team reporting
    • Accountable for the performance management and organizational talent review process for Medical Science Liaison Management Team in cooperation with the MSL Head
    • Ensure structured Coaching (e.g. co-visits) of the MSL team North
    • Support and review MSLs plans, ensure execution of plans
  • Strategic Thinking
    • Works cross-functionally with commercial peers.
    • Collect gathered medical needs / unmet medical needs of physicians by MSLs and share the insights crossfunctionally to help build up a medical communication platform for satisfying those needs.
    • Ensure highest quality support of Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs) or Research Projects by the MSL team. Drive the consolidation of external research projects such as investigator initiated trials, third party studies and research projects and align them with the strategic goals of R&D / Global Medical.
  • Resource Allocation
    • Accountable for aspects of recruiting, on-boarding and ongoing scientific & functional training to reach and maintain highest performance of the MSL team in cooperation with the MSL Head
  • Budget
    • Responsible for managing the MSL team budget including review and approval of expense reports.
  • Local Collaboration
    • Support Medical AD Lead for all strategic decisions and reportings
    • Consistently ensure a seamless interface between the MSL team and other departments like Commercial, Drug Safety, Medical Affairs, GCO, Legal and Compliance.
    • Contributes to business projects as active member of project teams


  • MD, PharmD, pharmacist, PHD and other life sciences with solid medical/technical background and proven competencies in the project management
  • Proven leadership or participating a leadership development program and experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven competence in developing strategic & execution capabilities.
  • Superior leadership skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach and manage field-based scientific/medical professionals.
  • Thorough understanding of internal/external ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strong personal integrity, teamwork abilities, and a customer focus are necessary.
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment and to motivate a team to do the same.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross functional environment.

Additional Information

  • To manage and lead a Medical Science Liaison Manager Team North, this includes cross-functional coordination, coaching, communication and reporting as well, and budget management for the team.
  • Recognition, documentation and reporting of adverse events and technical product complaints to Drug Safety Germany or the responsible service center according to local SOPs.
