Product Marketing Manager

You’re an expert at building marketing insights from analysis, tests, and customer intuition, and you are eager to develop your strategic marketing capabilities. You are an adept project manager, who enjoys being at the hub of a cross-functional team to bring a new feature to market. Data drives you: you’re comfortable crafting surveys and A/B tests for measurable and actionable results.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead marketing efforts of new features for Betterment’s consumer product: for example, new account types, auto-deposits, RetireGuide, SmartDeposit, etc.
  • Work as a part of a product squad to communicate Betterment’s features -- which touches on both complex and personal topics -- in accessible language that encourages people to take action
  • Establish product marketing processes and best practices across the organization in order to further solidify and evangelize Betterment's product marketing strategy
  • Create a multi-channel go-to-market strategy:
    1. Estimate business impact of new feature launches to help prioritize marketing resources
    2. Develop customer insights from qualitative and quantitative customer research including interviews, surveys, focus groups, and feature feedback
    3. Build messaging based on customer research that addresses customers’ needs
  • Launch new features into market that drive customer acquisition and product adoption
  • Track performance on an ongoing basis to ensure that customers are making the most of Betterment, and develop plans to continually drive feature adoption


  • 3+ years working in Product Marketing at a technology company, preferably consumer technology
  • Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally to bring new features to market
  • Proven problem-solver who proactively identifies issues, formulates plans to nimbly resolve these issues, and effectively communicates the results
  • Strong analytical background with proven ability to develop reports/surveys and make data-driven decisions
  • Experience managing and executing projects, across multiple teams, with shifting priorities
  • Experience writing copy for technology products + marketing collateral
  • Team player, willing to do whatever it takes to drive team goals
  • Experience executing in an agile development


  • Paid, owned, or earned marketing experience
  • Consumer financial services industry experience
  • Prior experience in user research activities such as questionnaire/surveying, usability testing, interviews, market research, and focus groups
