Project Engineer
Leads, plans, coordinates, and manages investment projects at the CUA site, focusing on the development of business infrastructure in terms of: services, sustainability, safety, digitalization, technological growth, standardization, and improvement of production processes. Aiming to reduce costs, contribute to sustainable development, increase operational efficiency, ensure product quality, and guarantee business continuity through the execution of engineering projects according to BDPS needs. Responsible for managing the assigned economic, material, and human resources to achieve the expected results within the planned deadlines, executing with safety and quality according to internal standards. Managing the integration of functional areas to ensure efficiency and results in execution.

Job Description

Functions.

  • Support in coordinating the technical and financial evaluation of projects related to general services, energy efficiency, sustainable design, expansion, digitalization, and process, as established in the site master plan, in conjunction with the Engineering Leader.
  • Execute projects according to scope, time, and budget aligned with the plant's needs.
  • Manage the proper planning, administration, execution, and validation of the projects led, directing and coordinating the human, technical, and economic resources assigned to the project, ensuring their maximum utilization. Following BD's internal methodologies, the purchasing-legal department guidelines, and the company's corporate standards.
  • Responsible for defining and executing validation strategies. Ensures the correct editing of the required documentation in the validation package (protocols, FMEA, CPL, etc.).
  • Manage the annual CAPEX under their responsibility (CAPEX between 1-3MUSD annually), manage and update the investment schedule (CAPEX Forecast) weekly and monthly.
  • Present action plans to mitigate risks presented in the project, both financially and technically.
  • Manage risks arising from execution, detecting needs and proposing modifications derived from flexibility and adaptability to make adjustments to project execution. Determine the criticality of activities and follow up on them to keep team members focused on priorities and objectives.
  • Execute the correct technology transfer developed in sister plants, maintaining constant communication with the global Engineering team and other functions, thus ensuring long-term business objectives.
  • Meet the objectives established through indicators to measure project progress and execution and generate the necessary actions to ensure its success.
  • Lead their respective core teams to foster collaboration and motivation of the areas that integrate service (utilities and facilities), sustainability, and process projects, coordinating the management of project status communication with different stakeholders (internal clients, global functions, and other group plants) through various communication tools.
  • Support productive areas by generating solutions to complex problems, attending audits, closures, and executing corrective and preventive actions, participating in sustainability, general services, digitalization, and process projects.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in an engineering-related field.
  • Upper Intermediate English, capable of engaging in technical conversations.
  • 1 year of experience in managing engineering projects with experience handling a CAPEX budget of at least 1 million USD annually.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing industrial processes.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge in project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or PMI.
  • Planing, execute, and supervise projects from start to finish.
  • Evaluate, and mitigating potential project risks.
  • Manage budgets, ensuring projects stay within established financial limits.
  • Guide and motivating a team towards achieving project objectives.
  • Customer service focus.
  • Make decisions and assume responsibilities at their level.
  • Adapt to changes and handle unforeseen situations with flexibility.
