Head of Commercial/Business Development - Stealth MedTech Startup

We are getting ready to launch and scale a stealth startup, ready to transform the medical remote monitoring space. We are building an AI-powered device-agnostic platform, supported by a robust protocol and algorithm. With funding already in place, this startup is well positioned to disrupt the multi-billion dollar US home monitoring industry, with a readiness to transform patient care through convenience, better patient outcomes and reduced costs to the overall HC system.    

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for an exceptional Head of Commercial/Business Development to join as part of the founding team to launch and scale this disruptive startup.

As the Head of Business Development, you will:

  • Oversee development and execution of the company's commercial strategy
  • Define the venture's commercial organizational structure for direct-to-hospital sales
  • Assess, build and manage a pipeline of targets across relevant channels to deliver on the company's growth objectives
  • Help to establish a company culture that is achievement-driven, positive and empowering for all employees
  • Actively maintain a detailed perspective on the remote monitoring market and the competitive landscape
  • Work with engineering, product, and medical teams to align commercial targets with all development plans/activities
  • Cultivate alternative business models, such as strategic partnerships, to optimize the delivery of the company's offerings in a variety of clinical market segments
  • Oversee the development of the KPI's and assessment systems to continually monitor the success of the product in the market; update implementation and operational plans accordingly based on data-driven decisions and analyses
  • Develop communication mechanisms across the organization to provide feedback to cross-functional teams around product development, engineering, operations and clinical/regulatory affairs in the continual enhancement of the company's offerings    

Desired Expertise & Experience

  • 5+ years prior professional experience ideally in startups, particularly in sales-based roles
  • Track-record of building and scaling companies from scratch
  • Extremely results driven; hands-on approach to business development
  • Highly analytical mindset; strong attention to detail without losing the big picture
  • Experience building a sales team previously in a high-growth environment
  • Medical device background with preference for expertise in monitoring/diagnostics
  • Negotiation experience with large hospital networks
  • Good presentation skills to large audiences (conferences)
  • Ability to identify, nurture and manage Key Opinion Leaders
  • Frequent travel to key customers
  • Interaction with large corporate structure e.g., sales force is a plus
  • Oncology/MD background is a plus
