Overview/Purpose:
The Cloud Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the modern IT landscape, focusing on the management and optimization of cloud-based application environments. This role is primarily responsible for the development, design, and deployment of scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure. A key purpose is to ensure high availability, reliability, efficient operation, performance, and maintenance of these applications, which often involves monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing updates or patches as needed. This role demands a combination of technical skills in cloud computing and a deep understanding of the specific applications under management.

Responsibilities:
- Cloud Architecture Design: Develop and implement cloud infrastructure architecture using platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Cloud Infrastructure Deployment: Automate the deployment and configuration of cloud resources, including compute, storage, and networking components.
- System Monitoring & Maintenance: Set up monitoring tools and systems to ensure the health and performance of cloud-based applications and services. Implement corrective actions and optimizations as needed.
- Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices for cloud environments, ensuring data protection, identity and access management, and compliance with industry regulations.
- Cost Management: Monitor cloud usage and optimize cloud resources to ensure cost-efficiency.
- Collaboration & Support: Work closely with development teams to support their cloud infrastructure needs. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud services.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop automation scripts using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to streamline operations and deployments.
- Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage cloud backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity.
- Document and training: Document cloud infrastructure, configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and solutions for devices and equipment integration issues. Provide training and support to end-users and internal staff regarding device and equipment configurations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in cloud systems engineering or similar roles.
- Experience with hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Familiarity with cloud cost management and optimization techniques
- Proficiency with cloud printing technologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
- Knowledge of networking concepts (VPCs, VPNs, Load Balancers)
- Strong understanding of security best practices in cloud environments
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Will require on-call availability to address critical system issues

The Cloud Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, and managing the cloud infrastructure that supports critical business applications and services. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Security, and Application Development, to ensure that cloud environments are optimized for performance and aligned with industry best practices. The engineer will manage the lifecycle of cloud systems from architecture to maintenance, including automation, monitoring, and cost management. This position requires staying up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and practices to continuously improve the company's cloud operations. As the organization scales, the Cloud Systems Engineer will ensure that the cloud infrastructure remains resilient, secure, and cost-effective.

Salary: $93,000 - $129,000
