Responsibilities

Baker Tilly is passionate about the work it does for family-owned businesses. Each family business is a sophisticated blend of financial and business practices, along with the personal relationships that exist among its owners, executives, investors, trusted advisors, and family members. That means it is driven by forces not covered in the standard business curriculum, such as the interpersonal and family matters that rarely impact more widely held companies. We get that here at Baker Tilly.

In this role you will assist businesses with the unique challenges that come from managing the impact of personal, investor and family concerns in areas such as governance, transition and succession planning, executive and family compensation, philanthropy, wealth transfer, strategic planning and retirement and estate planning. You will be a leader in our family business practice group, eventually assuming full responsibilities for championing this part of our business, providing leadership, and acting as a strategic advisor to clients.

In addition to client work, as a senior member of our team you will participate in growing the firm - through your relationships with clients and other centers of influence in the community, and by developing and maintaining visibility as a thought leader and subject matter expert. You will also use your communication and interpersonal skills for such activities as presentations and article or blog writing assignments with assistance from our marketing department. We encourage involvement in activities that benefit the Seattle community.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has recent public accounting experience, preferably serving in a similar director or senior manager role specializing in family businesses and who is seeking a short path to Partner. You will be the champion for this practice area, encouraging and mentoring less tenured tax employees who also have an interest in serving family businesses. You will also provide specialized review of complex operational business returns and flow through entities. Experience with all types of filers including state returns and multi-state operations is required, as well as the ability to perform tax research and planning tailored to the clients' needs.

Join us in giving great advice to our clients and join a firm known for its outstanding technical expertise, strong relationships with clients and colleagues and workplace flexibility and comradery.
