Responsibilities

The Management Consulting Services team provides operational finance and organizational management services to public-sector clients across the country. This is a production-oriented position that conducts research, performs analytical work, and provides support to consultants engaged in these services. Candidates strong research skills, analytical skills, and computer skills in Microsoft® Office Suite product line especially Microsoft® Excel. General knowledge of local government operations, fund accounting, property tax systems, and enterprise operations (water, wastewater, stormwater, etc.) would be helpful, but not essential.

 

Operational Finance services assists clients in managing their financial resources to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness. They provide the following services:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs research and analysis work on various projects; gathers related project data and participates in the execution of various research and evaluation studies; assists in the preparation and development of recommendations based on findings; prepares appropriate reports
  • Prepares project documentation; ensures documentation is presented accurately and in appropriate fashion; effectively applies company methodology and enforces project standards
  • Assists in preparing financial options and projections for a variety of projects
  • Documents and analyzes required information and data
  • Takes input from supervisor and appropriately and accurately applies comments and feedback; understands the necessity of project standards and applies them consistently
  • Prioritizes multiple tasks effectively to facilitate successful completion of project activities and deliverables
  • Demonstrates understanding of how various issues affect each other and the outcome of projects
  • Anticipates client needs before they arise and presents solutions to project management that address issues at hand
  • Understands expectations that were set with client and recognizes when issues/events may affect delivery; keeps project manager apprised of potential issues affecting such deadlines
  • Ensures project requirements are achieved in a timely fashion and within budget guidelines
  • Completes project activities using an industry standard process and approach to ensure a consistent approach to project completion with other similar projects within the organization
  • Assists with potential and current clients meetings; delivering engaging, informative, well-organized presentations; training clients on the maintenance of various deliverables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in public administration, finance, planning, human resources, business or related field
  • One (1)+ years of research and financial analysis experience preferably in the public sector preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, communication skills
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current regarding applicable strategies, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of projects
  • Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills
