Responsibilities

The Data Goverance Analyst position will serve as a data steward for Baker Tilly systems such as practice management, resource management, CRM/sales, and various other applications. This position will be responsible for maintaining data quality and integrity within our firm-wide applications utilizing data governance strategies, as well as serving as a point of contact for data requests and various ad-hoc reporting/dashboard needs.

  • The position will manage all aspects of data used by the firm by implementing and maintaining data governance strategies, including enforcement of policies, guidelines, standard procedures, and ensuring proper communications. The position will be tasked with maintaining and enforcing data quality standards and overall data management best practices.
    • Perform data audits to ensure data accuracy, taking additional external research steps as needed.
    • Ensuring that quality data is available at the right time, and available to the right people.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and create standard definitions for key metrics used throughout the firm.
    • Build automated data quality rules to identify and cleanse inaccurate records.
    • Respond to data related support requests representing validation of records, cleansing and migration of merger information from legacy applications.
    • Monitor existing inbound/ outbound integrations within the practice management system to maintain the overall data integrity of the firm.
    • Perform root cause analyses of issues and ensure remediation according to data management policies and standards.
    • Create various ad-hoc reports representing various requests from the firm.
    • Assist in testing data as updates to applications are made in various systems.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Prior experience in a professional services firm preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience required
  • Experience leading data governance strategies within SQL Server and Azure SQL environments.
  • Strong SQL and data testing skills; Experience in constructing complex SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of data profiling, root cause analysis and quality improvement techniques.
  • Ability to translate user requirements to technical specifications.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills required. Proficiency with Excel and Access, a plus.
  • Requires professionalism, diplomacy, organization, creativity and ability to manage multiple project requests simultaneously in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and work well in a team-focused environment.
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills required; Strong technical documentation skills.
