West Coast Naval Weapons Fleet Support Manager

Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is hiring a Weapons Fleet Support Manager for the San Diego area with limited travel to support other sites.

In this role, you will manage the business and financial operations of a Fleet Support site location, including business development, proposals, pricing, contract negotiating, entered orders, operational and contractual performance, gross profit and customer relations. You will need strong project management skills and people management skills to support a workforce that deploys across the world.

The Fleet Support Manager:
o Manages site operations: negotiates contracts, ensures performance to contractual obligations, resolves contractual issues, provides contract status and updates planning schedules, manages internal and external resources to ensure cost, quality, and schedule requirements are achieved.
o Develops and manages sales, entered orders, work flow and gross profit for a Fleet Support site location.
o Identifies customer requirements and priorities, evaluates site and division capabilities and manages bid and proposal efforts.
o Acts as the cost center manager for assigned cost center budget. Develops inputs to and monitors cost center budgets for forecasting direct labor requirements, variance analysis, project closure/inventory control, project status reports, and ensures production meets all contractual guidelines.
o Performs duties normally associated with the supervision to include, but not limited to: hiring, training, evaluating, counseling and disciplining of employees.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
o Bachelor's degree program in business or engineering or equivalent experience and 8 years of defense-related business/engineering experience working on a wide range of combat systems equipment/machinery.
o High level of analytical ability to analyze entered orders, market tendencies, workload, sales forecast, competitor cost structures, did and pricing decisions, customer required surges, and business capture opportunities.
o Innovation skills to develop creative approaches which respond to a dynamic business environment, especially with respect to diverse worldwide programs and staffing.
o Excellent communication skills to include public speaking in presentation environments consisting of senior business managers and senior government leadership.
o Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Work, Excel and Power Point.

Preferred Skills and Education
o Management experience in a complex and dynamic worldwide business environment.
o Bachelor's degree in business or engineering.
o Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
o 15 years experience managing combat systems operations in the defense industry.
o Quality Assurance Supervisor (QAS) or Quality Assurance Officer (QAO).
o Experience with Navy contracting.
