VoIP Principal Network Engineer

Job Description
The selected candidate's primary responsibilities will be to provide Non Secure Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network design, installation,documentation, operations, maintenance, system engineering, sustainment engineering, management and oversight for a government agency's IP telecommunications network. Will provide administrative telephone support for special C2 systems to include conferencing, alert and notification systems,networked voice, video and data and non - secure switchboards. Provide support for call processing systems, voicemail systems, gateways, IP telephone instruments, video applications, voice and video bridging and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). Provide voice mail services, including recorded announcements,audio and visual indicators of messages, forwarding capability, broadcast (voicemail lists), standard and enhanced message storage, auto dial voice mail caller, auto reply, create, delete, and retrieval of messages from any Dual Tone Multi-Frequency phone. Design and install new cabling, equipment, and associated hardware and software to extend and/or enhance existing services. Monitor statuses and alert systems necessary to provide real time network availability to include remote applications and hardware necessary to monitor and communicate with remote sites as required.

Will also provide end-to-end support equipment and services, including instrument placement, infrastructure and other required services to provide telecommunications related connectivity within and external to the customer. Provide logging and blocking security services. Review the logs and make security and infrastructure enhancement recommendations to identified customer telecommunications personnel and implement changes and rule based policies. Provide UPS support and installation, operation, and maintenance for UPS equipment on all non-redundant components of the VoIP infrastructure to allow for battery backup in the event of facility power outages. Will apply knowledge of DoD policies and procedures with regard to the installation, configuration, and management of Cisco IP Systems to perform real time conference scheduling, bridge management, and connectivity support for a global IP and ISDN teleconferencing network.

Candidates must possess a current active high level DoD security clearance adjudicated within the last 3 years.

There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Washington, DC or surrounding areas.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of related experience with telecommunications, integration design, installation and support
Two (2) years Cisco Call Manager experience (Cisco Call Manager 8.6 and above)
Active security clearance and ability to maintain

Video Conferencing/Bridging
Secure voice assets configuration
Wide Area Networks
Cisco Networking, CCNA Voice/CCNP
IP network experience
BoIP and VoIP experience

Preferred Skills and Education
Knowledge of test equipment: O-scope, Fireberd, transmission test sets
Capable of systems analysis with highly complex technologies
Familiarity with patch panels
Knowledge of telecommunications fundamentals
Ability to be self-reliant
Capability to perform essential technical maintenance activities without direct supervision
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to professionally interact with high level military officers and civilian officials on a daily basis
Quality assurance experience with both new and upgraded telecommunications systems
Trainer / training experience
Positive service oriented attitude
Military experience / knowledge of customs and courtesies
Experience with larger enterprise IP networks and related networking equipment
Knowledge of DoD policies and procedures with regard to the installation, configuration, and management of Cisco IP Systems
Security + and Network + certifications in accordance with DOD 8570 instruction
Experience with the development and presentation of briefings
Microsoft certification - MCSA, MCP, MCS
