Job Description

The VP of IT Transformation is responsible for the overall management of the Strategy, Architecture, Systems Engineering, Data strategy, and Automations within the IT function including the associated people, processes, and infrastructure. The VP ensures alignment between business objectives and IT strategy and roadmaps and develops the business technology and vision in partnership with the sectors. Identifies, develops, and implements near-term and long-term strategies relating to the development of new products, technologies, and services that support the enterprise. The VP owns and is responsible for implementing the Engineering Management Framework, which provides an enterprise-wide framework for engineering of ESS products and services. The VP ensures solutions are designed in a matter which takes into account current and future state architectures, address cross-functional and cross-system implications, adhere to enterprise architecture principles and standards, and account for existing and emerging technologies, and security requirements. The VP is responsible for establishing and managing a comprehensive data strategy to protect and leverage data from across disparate systems to provide business intelligence. The VP will lead integrated efforts across IT to leverage technology automations to drive efficiencies, agility, and ease of customer service. The VP of IT Transformation reports to the Inc CIO and manages 6-10 direct reports primarily made up of Directors and managers. While the job is posted in Reston, VA all major BAE sites will be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures alignment between business objectives and IT strategy and roadmaps and develops the business technology and vision in partnership with the sectors.
  • Identifies, develops, and implements near-term and long-term strategies relating to the development of new products, technologies, and services that support the enterprise.
  • Ensures solutions are designed in a matter which takes into account current and future state architectures, address cross-functional and cross-system implications, adhere to enterprise architecture principles and standards, and account for existing and emerging technologies, and security requirements.
  • Responsible for establishing and managing a comprehensive data strategy to protect and leverage data from across disparate systems to provide business intelligence
  • Leads integrated efforts across IT to leverage technology automations to drive efficiencies, agility, and ease of customer service.
  • Grounded in technical expertise within strategy, enterprise architecture & systems engineering, will advise and coach subordinates to resolve technical and operational problems, will maintain the skill level of subordinates and will engage in collaborative career development with subordinates, will ensure effective utilization of staff, and will ensure subordinates adhere to applicable policies, practices, procedures, methods, standards, and guidelines, and will be responsible for the administration of PDRs for the assigned staff, inclusive of soliciting inputs from stakeholders
Required Skills and Education
Required Skills
  • Mastery of the functional domain of IT Strategy, Enterprise Architecture and IT Systems Engineering, and Data architecture inclusive of theory, contemporary state of the practice, processes, and tools
  • Proven project/program management skills
  • 10 or more years of relevant, hands-on experience with IT systems design/development, Engineering, and/or IT Operations
  • 5 or more years of IT/engineering supervisory experience
  • Practical knowledge and experience with applicable engineering processes
  • BS in IT/Engineering or related fields

  • Contemporary stage gate and design review experience
  • MS in Engineering plus 15 or more years of related IT, Engineering, and/or Operations experience
