The role of a Unified Communications Systems Engineer (Principal) is to serve as the final escalation point for all Unified Communications issues in the Phase II solution. The position will work directly with the Microsoft Vendor, DTF and Engineering to resolve technically complex Unified Communications issues.

  • Serve as an escalation point for Jr. System Engineers & System Administrators for all issues related to Unified Communications environment within the Desktop solution
  • Installs, maintains, and troubleshoot complex high availability hardware and software
  • Works directly with Microsoft PFEs/Vendor, Engineering and DTF on improvements
  • Identify issues and create improvement processes to help with the reduction of incident outage times
  • Provide Technical Leadership to the entire Tier II – III Team
  • Mentors Jr. System Administrators and System Engineers; including On-the-Job Training to staff
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures including DoD STIG requirements
  • Develop and maintain documentation of all processes associated with administration of the network and duties performed by network & system administrators

Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education

  • Extensive messaging and Unified Communications design and administration, Voice, telecom
  • Hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting and publishing applications using XenApp technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of High-Availability computing and networking (load balancing, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS)
  • Combination of 10+ years of experience to include the following areas:
  • Microsoft Server (2012 R2 preferred)

o Active Directory

o Hyper-V SCVMM (2012)

o SQL Database (2014 preferred)

  • Experience in a large, geographically dispersed environment
  • Technical documentation skills

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Direct experience with Skype for Business
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Citrix XenDesktop 7
  • McAfee Next Generation Firewall
  • Possess one of the following certifications: MCITP; MCSA; MCSE – Communications; MCSA; MCTS
  • Knowledge of Dell Networking Appliances
