Telecom Network Technician

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Telecom Network Technician to join our team at the top of the world!

1. BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
The Telecommunications Network Technician troubleshoots and maintains voice and data networks in support of Thule Air Base and its assigned missions. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet the changing needs of contract performance.
2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
A. Provides Nortel SL-100 switch maintenance functions, including moves, adds, changes, security, and operations in accordance with applicable government directives.
B. Performs Maintenance as directed on the Cisco ONS 15310 SONET multiplexers at various locations.
C. Maintains the Callegra Voicemail System.
D. Maintains the Voice Protection Systems at the direction of the NOSC.
E. Maintains the Power System associated with the SL-100 switch at various locations.
F. Installs and maintains the inside plant wiring from the SL-100 switch to the Main Distribution Frame at various locations.
G. Maintains the Meridian Option 11c phone systems in the SSPARTS locations.
H. Documents all maintenance actions and work orders in the Trouble Ticket database.
I. Supports BAE Systems offices, and other agencies, with the installation, connection, testing, and troubleshooting of the communications infrastructure at Thule, when requested.
J. Assist with the operations and maintenance of the NIPRNET LAN.
K. Assist with the operations and maintenance of the SIPRNET LAN.
L. Supports all communications projects at Thule on an as-needed basis.

Required Skills and Education

  • High school diploma and military or civilian education in basic electronics.
  • Completion of basic industry education pertaining to voice systems operations and maintenance.
  • Possess a solid understanding of data networking and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) functions.
  • Current CompTIA Security + certification.
  • Must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Valid US civilian passport.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Rotation schedule will be 9 weeks on and 4 weeks off with possibility of adjustment.
