Technology Development Manager, Fast Labs - Mission Systems

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a Technology Development Manager in the RF/EW and Advanced Electronics - Mission Systems Directorate. The work will be run out of BAE Systems FAST Labs business area where our primary customers are Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), other government R&D labs, and technology transition customers. We are seeking candidates who have the ability to lead the execution of advanced technical projects and shape new programs with new customers. Much of the work will be performed in the context of multi-disciplinary teams consisting of engineers and academically strong researchers.

Duties are primarily focused on leading technical research teams and providing key contributions to programs, including new concept and algorithm development, data analysis, RF system design, and integration & test. In this role, the candidate will re-architect current system architectures to integrate cutting-edge algorithms into BAE Systems legacy systems and drive key requirements for the next generation of RF EW products.

The work is interdisciplinary with core competencies in the fields of digital signal processing, applied mathematics, computer science, and cyber. The ideal candidate would have exposure to multiple technical domains having worked complex multi-disciplinary research programs. We are looking for a candidate with the initiative to develop innovative, robust, and extensible solutions. This position functions across multiple organizations and collaboration is a key component to success.

As a program lead, this role requires strong communication skills with frequent technical and programmatic presentations with customers, co-contractors, and internal stakeholders.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent with 10+ years of experience or Master's degree with 8+ years of experience

  • Active DoD TOP SECRET clearance
  • Experience in leading teams to solve complex technical problems
  • Exposure to one or more of the following coding languages: MATLAB, C, C++, Python Experience in new business capture, such as proposal writing; preferred if experience leading proposal efforts
  • Background in mathematics and digital signal processing
  • Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities, willingness to perform a wide variety of related tasks, and exceptional oral and written skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting technical research to large audiences
