Technical Writer/Editor Sr.
Technical editing lead to work within cross functional teams as a point of contact and acts as project expert within the team.
Prioritizes and assigns work to editing staff. Communicates needs to both functional and project leadership.
Follows internal process and procedures throughout project lifecycle and ensures process adherence.
Compiles metrics and submits to functional leadership.
Edits and proofreads technical documents, including technical manuals, Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), miscellaneous reports, and proposals for grammar, spelling, clarity of expression, and organization. Ensures documents conform to company and government standards and specifications, and consistency of technical information (i.e., correct nomenclature, correct logic circuits, verify that text and art agree).
Demonstrates ability to effectively answer customer questions and concerns related to MIL-STD and other style guides, engages in problem solving discussions with cross-functional team members, provides guidance to cross-functional team members, and ensures documentation is produced on time and within budget.
Must be proficient with electronic PDF markup software such as Adobe Acrobat Professional as well as possess a working knowledge of military style and format. On vehicle validation and XML experience a plus but not required. Must be proficient with MS Office Suite: MS Word and MS Excel.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Highly developed communication skills.
Ability to work with geographically-dispersed team.
Formal or informal team leadership experience.
Preferred Skills and Education Ability to concentrate.
Demonstrates attention to detail.
Command of English language.
Experience reviewing/revising/documenting text with the ability to understand mechanical and troubleshooting logic.
Ability to consistently follow a style guide and incorporate global changes throughout a document.
Compare written text to engineering drawings and/or schematics.
Cross check a maintenance technical manual with a parts/RPSTL manuals. (Perform a cross check).
Experience testing the functionality of an IETM.
Understand how supporting information in a technical manual relates to the rest of the chapters/work packages.
Familiarity with defense industry wheeled and track vehicles.
