The Technical Writer will support a diverse team engaged in executing a large, complex information technology (IT) program. This team develops and tests a wide range of information technology capabilities of varying, complexity, and field deployment priorities. The Technical Writer will have primary responsibility for the coordination, preparation, review, revision, and validation of program, technical documentation, and official correspondence. This position requires the ability to take initiative, and manage own time across multiple, simultaneous tasks, to complete assignments, and to assess issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and program goals and objectives.
Prepare, revise, and certify program documents and technical publications. Compose and/or edit technical documents, including user’s manuals, training materials, installation guides, and official correspondence. Support document CM. Manage project documentation schedules and ensure documents are complete on the required dates. Establish documentation standards, specifications, and templates. Draft and publish meeting minutes. Work with program leadership and technical staff to understand documentation requirements of software, hardware, testing and or other capabilities being documented.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Required Skills:
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite.
- Demonstrated editing or authoring of technical documentation.
- Strong desktop publishing skills.
- Strong working knowledge of SharePoint.
- Classification management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a team player (team oriented) and willing to follow directions, as well as take initiative.
- Ten (10) or more years of technical writing-related experience with editing, proofreading, and drafting technical and program documents.
Preferred Skills and Education Preferred Skills:
Prior experience as a technical writer on an information technology (IT) project.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
