Technical Publications Lead
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of technical writers, graphics editors, and process documentation specialists in creating, editing, and publishing program publications. Program publications will include contractual document deliverables, end-user manuals, training documentation, Knowledge Management articles, briefings and announcements, engineering documentation, process documentation, operations manuals, and many other types of documentation. The Technical Document Production Lead will provide overall management of the document production process throughout its production lifecycle to include document production, document change and configuration management, quality assurance, and document publication.
Develop, implement, lead, and retain overall responsibility for the program technical publication process that will manage all formal program publications from conception through archiving.
Identify and develop the necessary processes to ensure final products are written with adequate clarity for the intended audience, arranged logically, grammatically correct, adhere to accepted rules of style, and contains the proper security classification caveats and markings.
Develop and implement procedures for planning, coordinating, and the time sequencing involved in the production of program publications.
Engage Service Delivery Managers, Task Order Managers, Process Owners, team members, customer managers, and program/customer leadership in ensuring requires resources and expertise is made available to complete publications.
Work directly with program Master Scheduler to prioritize document production team’s work to ensure that contractually required documents are produced and delivered in accordance with schedule requirements.
Work directly with program Quality Assurance Manager to ensure that all publications are reviewed against quality standards.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education 12+ years of relevant experience in technical writing/editing, Experience developing document production processes, Proven ability to lead diverse cross-functional teams, Experience developing publications in multiple formats for multiple audience types, Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment, Ability to manage relationships with multiple levels of management, Experience working in large federal government organizations, Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and other MS Office Suite tools, Excellent analytical, planning, presentation, writing, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Education IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certifications highly desired.
