Technical Operator (IDS)

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking experienced Tactical Operators to be part of our AEGIS Test Team. This position will be located in Wallops Island, VA working at the U.S. Navy's Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC). SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS and Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.

The successful candidate will be working closely with other contractors and active duty Navy Combat Information Center (CIC) Watch team members in support of AEGIS test events.
The responsibilities will include:

  • Operate the AEGIS Weapon System (AWS) CIC Tactical Information Coordinator (TIC), Radar Systems Supervisor (RSS) and Identification Supervisor (IDS) submodes
  • Perform Network & Datalink operations
  • Configure and operate the Cooperative Engagement Control (CEC) network and Link-11/16 Tactical Data Links in support of the ship's combat system
Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Typical education and relevant/related years of experience: High School Diploma/GED and at least 8 years' experience in US Navy surface, subsurface, air strike, C4I or AEGIS BMD warfare areas including experience onboard an AEGIS ship.

Security clearance requirement: Must be eligible to obtain and then maintain a DoD security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). The selected candidate will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted. The selected candidate's continued employment will be contingent on his/her ability to obtain and maintain the final Secret clearance.
