Technical Director - Mission Management Engineering

This position is seeking a passionate leader in Mission Managementtechnologies, including a deep domain understanding of Autorouting, 4D+ Optimization,Electronic Warfare (EW), and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) working in aclassified environment. The successfulcandidate will have an understanding of product line management – how to definea vision for, organize, and manage a product line such that discriminators areidentified, matured across programs and leveraged for business growth. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an abilityto crystalize technical strategies into clear and understandable direction andelevate thinking into winning concepts.

The qualified candidate will support architecture and algorithmdevelopment for a portfolio of Mission Planning programs. The candidate should have strong quantitativeand computer skills, and will have completed advanced math courses andprogramming courses in Java or C++. Thecandidate will solve problems related to mission planning and flight plangeneration using statistical analysis, linear programming, combinatorialoptimization, queuing theory, and stochastic processes.

Minimum Education and Experience •Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields.

  • Sixteen or more years’ experience to include extensive experience in vehicle route planning, automated planning algorithms and/or autonomous systems.
  • Experience in most of the following required:

oGenerating and giving presentations to company personnel, customers and prospective customers

oProposal preparation

oManagement of engineering development and IRAD programs

oUse of industry and internal development standards and processes Required Skills and Education · Ability to present and clearly articulate

complex algorithms and statistical data to customers and end users.

  • Effective customer engagement and communication


  • Ability to perform software system design to


o concepts of operations (CONOPS)

o system requirements

o system architecture

o software design

o algorithm design and development

  • Familiarity with full lifecycle software

development projects and programs.

Preferred Skills and Education · Recognized industry leader in mission management

and significant experience and understanding of air or other vehicle routing


  • Experience with developing heuristics to

efficiently solve optimization problems.

  • Familiarity with commercial airspace rules and


  • Familiarity with the A* path-finding algorithm

and its variants.

  • Understanding and experience with real-time

operating systems and environments.

  • Development experience in Java and/or C++.
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer

Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields.

  • Knowledge and previous experience working with

key Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and United States Air Force (USAF)

technical and acquisition organizations such as:

o Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for

Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (OUSD)

o Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and

Engineering (ASD)

o Strategic Capabilities Office

o USAF Program Executive Offices (PEO):

§ Battle Management

§ Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO)

§ Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR)

§ Fighter/Bomber.

  • Experience with developing parallel processing

algorithms to leverage multi-CPU or GPU compute capabilities.
