Tactical Space Mission Architect

Job Description
The Tactical Space Mission Architect is responsible for the development of mission architectures and technical guidance of design and implementation of prototype space and ground systems. The Mission Architect will lead technical teams in a variety of activities, including architecture and CONOP development, analysis of alternatives, mission modeling/simulation, systems analysis/trades, mission studies, baseline/interface management, payload phenomenology, mission data algorithms/processing, major subcontractor technical oversight, preparing/presenting technical material at major reviews, and interfacing with customers on all mission and system issues. These responsibilities include both individual-contributor and leadership roles within a multi-disciplined engineering team.

The Mission Architect will play a significant role in integrating tactical space business capture, IR&D, and contract R&D activities. The Mission Architect will work across multiple engineering and business disciplines to bring together subject matter expertise needed to develop complete mission solutions. The Mission Architect will be responsible for technical leadership of programs, including as principal investigator, will regularly interface with customers on technical issues, and will contribute to strategy development and implementation.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Demonstrated expertise in research and development programs involving autonomous ISR and related systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in distributed coherent signal processing and time synchronization for communications and electronic warfare.
  • Demonstrated expertise in development of space-based software defined radios, including hardware, software, and associated analog and digital processing.
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in a science or engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, etc.) and a minimum of 15 years of experience.
