Systems Engineering Intern 2 (General) - Summer 2019

Job Description

BAE Systems in Rockville, Maryland is recruiting a cohort of 2019 Summer Interns in various technical fields related to Systems Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science / Computer Engineering, etc.). In order to be eligible for these 3-month internships, applicants must complete their Sophomore year at an accredited 4-year university by May 2019 .

Interns will be supporting the system integration contract for the D-5 TRIDENT II Missile System where they will have the opportunity to develop technical skills and expand their industry knowledge across a broad range of projects and tasks. Interns will be given the opportunity to contribute to existing cross-functional work teams as well as run their own projects (small intern teams focused on rapid implementation of technical solution sets).

Required Skills and Education

1. US Citizenship
2. Completed Sophomore year at an accredited 4-year university
3. Minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
4. Majoring in technical field with extensive coursework related to Systems Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Computer / Software Engineering, Project / Risk / Requirement Management, System Modeling & Simulation, etc.)
5. Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
7. Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Visio)
8. Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently

Preferred Skills and Education

1. Knowledge of Systems Engineering (lifecycle / processes / activities)
2. Previous work experience in a professional environment
3. Experience with developing presentations and public speaking
