Systems Engineer w/ Electrical Focus

BAE Systems is seeking a full-time junior-level Systems Engineer to join our Interface Requirements team working on the US and UK TRIDENT Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine Strategic Weapon System and Tomahawk Attack Weapon System programs. The selected candidate will work closely with numerous engineering teams supporting Strategic Systems Programs.
Our primary function is to ensure that all weapon system interface, data requirements, and cabling implementation is defined and properly coordinated. We are the independent, third party systems integrator and strive to ensure that all the requirements of the individual subsystems are met at the interface in order to ensure interoperability and compatibility. This is achieved by performing technical engineering change evaluations and coordinating between government and contractor activities to define Weapon System Interface Requirements.
The successful candidate must be able to support the Electrical Coordination, Data Requirements, and SWS Cabling efforts, both with maintenance of requirements and helping with the evolution of the requirements into standalone requirements with a framework of links through requirement/modeling tools to create the entire, encompassing picture. This member of the team will be expected to learn the technical content, apply it, and participate in these evolution efforts. To be successful, the candidate must be skilled in the business processes that enable effective program structuring and execution, in the leadership behaviors that enable effective planning, monitoring, and control, and in customer relationship building. The ability to communicate, coordinate, collaborate and work in a visible and proactive manner is an imperative aspect of the role, and will be evaluated equally alongside specific, applied experiences. The ideal candidate will be highly engaging, team-oriented, customer-focused, and able to respond to rapidly dynamic programmatic environment.
Required Skills and Education
Degree in an Engineering discipline
Understanding of Systems Engineering principles
Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
Experience working within a PLM Tool
Understanding of basic engineering principles and experience with Interface Control/Design Drawings
Willingness and ability to travel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
Understanding of requirements allocation and system architecture management
Security clearance requirement: Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
Preferred Skills and Education
Highly desired, but not required:
Active DoD Secret security clearance. or have held a clearance within the last two years
Degree in Systems Engineering
Understanding of detailed engineering principles and experience with Interface Control/Design Drawings
Knowledge of DoD Engineering Disciplines
Experience with technical presentations and customer-facing activities
Familiarity with Functional, Programmatic, and Technical Management knowledge area
Experience with various engineering tools / languages including PTC Windchill, IBM DOORS, 2D/3D CAD, SysML, JAVA, and/or MATLAB Simulink
Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE)
Experience with Magic Draw tool
