Systems Administrator II

Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Systems Administrator to support client and server systems in a Research, Development, Test and Engineering (RDT&E) network at Webster Field in St. Inigoes, MD.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Configuring new client desktop and laptop computers utilizing the DISA Windows 10 SHB.
- Configuring new Windows Server 2012/2016 systems, and supporting existing server systems to ensure maximum uptime.
- Hardening server, desktop, and laptop systems utilizing DISA STIGS and SCAP.
- Supporting the network's RMF continuous monitoring efforts by conducting regular vulnerability scans using ACAS/Nessus, remediating vulnerabilities utilizing established solutions, and developing solutions to newly discovered findings.
- Supporting a VMware virtual server environment.
- Maintaining and monitoring network backups and restoring data as needed.
- Supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x and 7.x systems, applying system updates, conducting regular vulnerability scans, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Installing and managing server-based applications, administer user accounts, file and print shares, and group policy objects.
- Troubleshooting issues with server and desktop-based applications.
- Distributing application updates as needed.
- Responding to user assistance requests in a timely manner.
- Troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues on desktop and laptop computers.
- Routing and terminating network cabling.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Typical Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 2 years of related experience OR Associate degree in a related field and at least 6 years of related experience OR High School diploma and 8 years of related experience

Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 2 years of related experience OR Associate degree in a related field and at least 6 years of related experience OR High School diploma and 8 years of related experience

Technical knowledge of Intel-based PC hardware, Microsoft Windows 7 and/or 10, and Microsoft Office applications

Windows Server 2008 and/or 2012 administration experience

Experience with Active Directory and configuring client systems using Group Policy Objects

Strong technical aptitude including excellent troubleshooting skills

Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to learn quickly and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Ability to work well independently or in a team setting

Ability to obtain / maintain the required security clearance

Preferred Skills and Education
Experience building and loading the DISA Windows 10 Secure Host Baseline
Experience configuring and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x and/or 7.x
DISA STIG implementation experience
Microsoft SQL Server administration experience
Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) administration experience
DISA ACAS training and vulnerability scanning experience
Synergis Adept administration training and experience
VMware ESXi and/or vSphere installation and administration experience
Current Security+ CE certification
