System Engineer

Job Description
BAE Systems is building a team of System Engineers with expertise in areas such as command and control, intelligence, acquisition, data handling, space, cyber, and intelligence data handling. Our team of engineers will provide software development and engineering capability design and operational support for our customer. The team provides technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environments, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation and implementation advice on exceptionally complex problems that need extensive knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation. These teams will be instrumental in the implementation of the SecDevOps software development approach, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), and SAFe Agile methodologies. These teams will prepare comprehensive written reports and presentations based on research, collection, and analysis of information assurance data.

These teams of System Engineers will also be responsible for the following duties:
•Apply principles, methods and knowledge of the functional area of capability to specific task order requirements, advanced mathematical principles and methods to exceptionally difficult and narrowly defined technical problems in engineering and other scientific applications to arrive at automated solutions
•Participate as needed in all phases of research and development with emphasis on the planning, analysis, testing, integration, documentation, and presentation phases
•Define design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with DoD customer specifications
•Recommend technological application programs to accomplish long-range objectives
•Apply and/or develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts
•Work in a dynamic and ever-changing environment while assuring key milestone objectives are satisfied with a focus within cost budget constraints
•Maintain awareness of full program goals and efforts to assure opportunities for shared resources and technical overlap is properly managed and utilized
•Will serve as the Customer point of contact and provide technical presentations as needed
•Be well organized, thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, leverage best practices, and innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude
•Able to handle multiple priorities and interruptions with minimal impact on productivity
•Demonstrate a high level of independent judgment and initiative; self-starter
•Other duties as assigned

Candidates filling these positions should have experience in one or more of the following Air Force Weapon Systems: Air Operations Center (AOC), Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS), National Space Defense Center (NSDC), Cyber Command and Control Mission System (C3MS), and Department of Defense (DoD) Intelligence System (DODIIS).

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in scientific or engineering discipline, at least 8 years' experience of increasing responsibility in DoD system/software development and considered subject matter expert in assignment related technical area
  • Linux (RedHat/CentOS preferred), Windows server, AWS, and VMWare-based virtual platforms
  • Experience with XML, Java, or other scripting languages
  • Experience with using testing tools
  • DoD 8570 compliant with a minimum of CompTIA Security + certification
  • Active TS SCI clearance
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Senior-level (hands-on) experience with a variety of platform technologies and solution architectures, as well as full lifecycle deployment models (requirements development through operations)
  • Experience with COTS/GOTS/custom app integration
  • Ability to break down technical concepts into business terms
  • Working knowledge of engineering and software development lifecycle
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies
  • SAFe Agilist certification
