Job Description

The operations support engineer will be part of an integrated operations & sustainment team providing critical 24x7 mission support to our customer and will interface with engineering resources located at other facilities. Additionally provide SSC support to include providing user support and customer service on customer-supported computer applications and platforms. Troubleshoot problems and advise on the appropriate action. Provide initial assessment, triage, research, providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Respond to queries, isolates problem, and determine/implement solution.

This position requires strong LINUX & UNIX OS experience operating in a DELL or HP blade server environment. The selected candidate will maintain and/or monitor NETAPP storage devices, robotic archives, and associated network components. Will be responsible for investigation into operational issues and performing problem escalation with vendor, factory, on-site and east coast based Subject Matter Experts (SME) as required. Routine tasks include performance of system start-up and shutdown, system monitoring, problem diagnosis and troubleshooting, collection of problem information, writing discrepancy reports, support system back-up/restore activities and will support performance metrics collection to include daily status reporting. The selected candidate will also support external interface troubleshooting, develop workarounds to user problems, coordinate with third party maintenance providers, and other operational support activities including software installations and upgrades.

Additional duties as required. Shift work required. 12 hour shifts

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

- Bachelors Degree and 2 years of work experience or equivalent experience
- Strong LINUX/UNIX OS system administration experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Excellent customer facing skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Security + certification (current)
- Must be willing and able to work shift work
- 12 hour rotating shifts

Preferred Skills and Education

- Experience with Oracle or other relational databases
