Supplier Commodity Manager

BAE Systems is looking for an experienced professional with supplier quality oversight, supplier management, and strategic sourcing background. The qualified individual will have responsibility for supply chain strategy development and execution for assigned product sets. Goals and objectives are focused on total cost of acquisition through a balance of material cost, quality performance, and delivery performance in the supply chain. Candidate will need to demonstrate technical capability in order to communicate effectively with design/component engineering on quality improvement topics and cost reduction/design change opportunities both internally and within the supply base.

Safety:

Ensure compliance with audits Ensure safe work area, both in plant and on travel to suppliers Lead and drive proactive safety measures, or report to SHE team where needed

Relationship:

Collaborate with other functions o Manufacturing, Engineering, Programs, IT, Finance, Human Resources, Contracts, ES Sector, SHE Identify the need for on-site supplier presence Identify need, initiate, support and foster supplier partnerships Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, both internal and external Grow customer service levels to internal manufacturing teams

Commodity Strategy:

Drive continuous improvement in all key performance areas Understand current commodity landscape and develop 5-10 year roadmap Support development and maintenance of supplier rating system Collaborate with team leads to establish appropriate goals for commodity addressing total cost of acquisition

Material Cost:

Implement cost reduction change requests in a timely fashion to support business cost objectives. Effectively utilize supplier contracting strategies to drive world class material costs. \ Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with supply base Identify cost reduction opportunities and submit documentation into Cost Reduction Team process Steer initial project launch and support to completion

Quality:

Ensure assigned supply base meets delivered quality objectives o Set and reinforce expectation of Zero Defects from our suppliers Lead, drive, and support quality investigations, utilizing 7-Step RCCA methods Issue QCIs and SCARs to drive appropriate internal and external accountabilities. Ensure timely and effective supplier oversight/audits (i.e. PVA process) Review engineering change requests and appropriately implement with supply base

Acquire /Maintain Preliminary Review (PR) and Material Review Board (MRB) certifications Delivery:

Ensure assigned supply base meets material delivery objectives Set and reinforce expectation of suppliers to adjust and perform to need date changes Collaborate with Business Integration Planners on demand forecast and inventory planning process improvements Align supply chain processes to support Kanban replenishment strategies Prioritize and escalate Critical Shortage resolution actions Grow utilization of preferred sourcing strategies (OSS, A/R, etc.) Manage supplier transitions (all types) to ensure uninterrupted material availability

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) and 8 years of work experience
