Job Description
The Subject Matter Specialist - Risk Management at Los Angeles AFB, CA supporting the US Space Force (USSF) Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Launch Enterprise Directorate (SMC/ECL) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) contract assesses technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost, risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Experience with maintaining the Risk Management Plan on an annual basis, audit compliance, assisting the Risk Management Working Group and Risk Management Board in development of actionable risk management strategies. Ensuring all of the New Entrant launch system's risks are being properly captured. Performing risk management activities to include; the identification and tracking of new risks, perform risk analysis to determine likelihood and impact if the risk is realized, evaluate proposed risk burn-down plans, develop monthly risk management reports, prepare monthly briefing packages for the Risk Management Working Group and Risk Management Board. Assist the AF risk owners to develop actionable risk management plans, maintain the risk management database, assist the AF risk owners input the data, and assist in reporting risks to higher headquarters.
Knowledge - Applies extensive risk management expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
Contacts - Contacts are frequent with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data on matters of moderate importance to the function of the department or which may be of sensitive nature.
Problem Solving - Develops solutions to complex problems requiring the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
Discretion and Latitude - Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
Impact - Effects of decision are long-lasting and heavily influence the future course of the organization. May function in a project leadership role. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would result in the expenditure of large amounts of company resources.
Liaison - Serves as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans and objectives. May interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in STEM-related field
