SSDS Technical Operator/Trainer

Responsibilities include:

Setup for mission events involving coordination with SCSC’s customer(s), Combat Systems, and Operations departments to identify event equipment and computer program configuration, obtain computer programs and electronic data from the Technical Library or electronic load management system, installation of computer programs, loading of computers and energizing equipment in accordance with procedures, establishment of interface switch paths, performing system checkout, and other site preparations necessary to ensure the readiness of the requested systems and equipment to support a successful mission event. Collect system recorded data during the event.

Perform systematic take down at the completion of the mission event.

Setup combat systems for events as per event run sheet and provide technical support during events.

Provide comprehensive readiness, preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting support at the equipment and system level and restoration of equipment and systems to design specifications for all combat system facilities at SCSC.

Perform corrective and preventive maintenance and micro-miniature (2M) repair to maintain combat system readiness.

Provide on-the-job training to the Navy members of the integrated maintenance team.

Plan and schedule maintenance to minimize systems and equipment downtime to maximize mission support, while still maintaining high system availability and also meeting planned maintenance schedules.

Promptly report to the Government the status of systems and equipment that are not functioning properly and have the potential to impact customer events.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Minimum education and years of related experience required: High School/GED and at least 10 years experience onboard an SSDS platform, with a minimum of 4 years as an SSDS CSMM or Combat System Senior Enlisted (CSSE) leading a team of technical/tactical operators engaged in the employment of Surface Weapon Systems in the support of Surface, Air, Strike, and C4I warfare areas as part of the Combat Systems Training Team.

Security clearance requirement: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). Selected candidate will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until at least an interim Secret clearance is granted.

Also required:

Must have 3 years Technical experience, specifically on SSDS Mk1 and SSDS Mk2 (all mods) combat systems, responsible for the Combat System Maintenance Manager organization and with the technical knowledge to bring combat systems up from cold iron status to support testing

Must be willing and able to provide a state issued driver’s license and complete DMV records upon date of hire. If position requires driving of a vehicle 10k lbs and more than 15 passengers, selected candidate must provide proof of completion of Navy Driver Training Preferred Skills and Education Highly desired, but not required:

Active DoD Secret security clearance

Experience in an RDT&E environment
