Sr Systems Engineer

Job Description
This BAE Systems program supports our federal customer who plays a key role in providing direct cybersecurity engineering support. This program provides systems and security engineering and integration support to specific Government-sponsored projects, pilots and prototypes. This includes solution planning and engineering, defining security requirements, target architecture, interoperability and integration, system testing, Verification and Validation, Modeling and Simulation, studies and analysis, post-deployment security validation (PDSV), and project risk management. As part of this team, you will contribute to the engineering of current and emerging cybersecurity systems, policies, and processes to enforce standards and identify vulnerabilities and capability gaps, and reduce cybersecurity risk of our customer networks.

The System Engineer II supports engineering efforts for each project, consistent with customer and program security and engineering processes and policies. This position will support data, system, and network security needs in the architecture, design, and engineering. The selected candidate will develop and design security solutions to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and the availability of information assets throughout the enterprise, and identify and develop improvements to security controls currently in place.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost, risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions. Translates customer requirements into hardware/software specifications.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Systems engineering experience
  • Active Clearance at Secret or higher
  • Training or experience with SAFe®
  • Training or experience with Cloud architectures and implementations
  • Experience with JIRA or similar tasking tools
  • Cyber security architecture and models training or experience
  • Ability to obtain DHS EOD Suitability
Preferred Skills and Education
Bachelor's Degree and 8 years or equivalent experience.

SAFe® agile
INCOSE ASEP OR SEP

Versed in cloud environments ( AWS preferred) but also open to Azure, Hadoop, Accumulo, or Mongo DB

Experience in:
Risk, plans, CONOPS, decision, requirements, change and configuration management, reliability, safety, MBSE, architecture frameworks (DODAF, TOGAF), modeling language (SysML, BPMN), process development and improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, CMMI for example)
