Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer

How the Supplier Quality Engineer contributes:

Evaluates suppliers’ operations and products for compliance with company/industry quality standards

Makes suggestions to management regarding supplier selection and compiles data for documentation of supplier performance

Perform Quality Management System audits at suppliers to verify quality and manufacturing systems are in place to support requirements

Utilize supplier Scorecards/metrics and analytical tools to quantify performance levels of the individual suppliers and use this information to prioritize suppliers in need of development, improvement or larger business share

Evaluates the impact of nonconforming product and assesses suppliers’ corrective actions.

Effectively utilize the issuance of Internal Corrective Action Requests and Supplier Corrective Action Requests to drive quality improvements while providing regular scheduled reports on their progress and final resolution

As required, perform on site review and verification of corrective actions, preventative actions and continuous improvement activities for product which do not meet standards for quality or delivery

Prepares data and information on Supplier status and issues for meetings

Participates in multifunctional teams to resolve supplier issues and failures

This person is responsible for the inspection and/or test procedures and may prepare reports for presentation to management

Performs other duties as assigned

  • Preferred Education: BS in Engineering or Technical field
  • Experience in a Defense Electronics Prime Contract environment.
  • Quality Assurance Engineering Professional with working knowledge of AS9100 Quality System
  • Working knowledge of supply chain logistics from raw material to finished goods.
  • Proficient experience with Special Process, Product Production Line Validation, test, equipment, instrumentation and qualification
  • Supplier Quality experience in a defense manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ISO9000/AS9100
  • Experience with AS9102 FAI
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) planning, development, flow down, control, reporting and implementing associated corrective actions
  • RF/Microwave Manufacturing Experience and Training
  • Working knowledge of RF/Microwave test, equipment and instrumentation
  • Experience with electrical/mechanical inspections, product test, equipment and instrumentation
  • Experience with castings and machining inspections, product test, equipment and instrumentation
  • Working knowledge of PWB/CCA inpection/test, equipment and instrumentation
  • Working knowledge of Cable/Harness inspection/test, equipment and instrumentation
  • Working knowledge and experience Environmental Stress Screening (ESS)
  • Process Engineering Experience
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience with Lean six sigma
  • Green / Black Belt
  • Lessons Learned Experience
  • Experience with an MRP/ERP system (i.e. Oracle)
  • Experience with quality software (i.e. Tip-QA, MiniTab)
  • Experience and proficiency in Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports
  • Working knowledge/Experience with Root Cause / Corrective Action
  • IPC experience/cert & ASQC a plus
