Sr. SQL Database Design Engineer

The BAE Systems team is looking for a SQL Engineer. The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of experience with SQL Server 2014, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2008 R2, and SQL Server 2008. This position is targeted for both dedicated support roles and short term reactive support and proactive engagements where overnight travel is required.
Minimum Education and Experience BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree and 8+ years of experience in a similar role. Required Skills and Education Required Skills and Education:
BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree and 8+ years of experience in a similar role. Act as a resource for on-going SQL planning and deployment. Help with analysis of migration to new SQL environments.
Identify compatibility issues found on original SQL Server 2014, SQL Server 2012 databases that would prevent them from being upgraded. Fix or remediate source objects to make them compatible with SQL 2014. Produce a set of scripts designed to remediate production SQL 2014 databases.
Provide assistance to administrators to resolve script deployment issues in production environment. Work with application owners to provide fixes for application issues that are classified as simple remediation items that contain no functional changes or expected fixes needed to existing defects. Design and adopt an application testing strategy to test the remediated applications. Provide guidance on the packaging of applications when changes are made. Perform unit testing for database and application changes as well as any required security testing. ecurity enhancements to the existing SQL code.
Preferred Skills and Education Preferred Skills and Education:
Strong demonstrable development experience/expertise in one or more of the following technologies is desirable:
SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2008 R2, Exposure to and some knowledge about SQL Server 2014. Fair knowledge on Windows clustering. Windows 2008 R2, Windows 2012 and Windows 2012 R2. Install, tune and administer SQL 2014 Clusters including Always on Availability Groups, Author design documents, build procedure, test procedures. Have strong familiarity with running SQL Server products in a secured environment which is compliant with DISA STIG. Familiarity with Hyper-v and System Center Virtual Machine manager is a plus, Solid understanding of Active Directory (AD) including Multi-Forest, Multi-domain, and Group policy to include how SQL is impacted by AD elements. Familiarity with PowerShell is a required.
Experience with Desired State Configuration is a plus. Familiarity with SSRS, SSAS, and System Center 2012 R2
product line is a plus, deep technical knowledge/experience on SQL HA/DR solutions. Experiences with SQL Server Integration Services, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, to support Business Intelligence, Practical experience troubleshooting performance problems, query tuning and optimization, Experience delivering and/or authoring
technical training, ability to work independently with minimal management supervision, Ability to manage challenging technical issues by setting customer expectations, devising and implementing action plans, being available 24×7 and professionally communicating to all parties involved.
SQL programming skills in one of the following: SQL, VB, VBA, C++, VJ++, VBS, Jscript, and HTML/DHTML.
Active Directory (architecture, design, disaster recovery and troubleshooting), IIS and ISA.
Debugging skills in the Windows Platform.
Up to date with Windows 7 and Windows 10 client.
Experience with network captures and network troubleshooting.
PowerShell V2 skills including scripting.
ITIL V3 Foundations Certification is desired
