Sr. Project Chemical Engineer
BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is hiring a Sr. Project Chemical Engineer at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant to perform chemical engineering functions on a variety of new construction, modernization and chemical manufacturing projects. An ideal applicant will have experience with P&IDs and have worked on design projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work for a Professional Engineer on a variety of projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs one or more of the following process engineering functions:
a. Estimate process equipment, instrumentation, and engineering hours for DCAA auditable pricing proposals.
b. Be an active member of a project team and effectively communicate and interface with various engineering disciplines.
c. Develop scope of work for capital projects.
d. Develop Process Flow Diagrams and Heat & Material Balances for new processes.
e. Develop new and revise existing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
f. Develop new and revise existing Interlock Narratives.
g. Identify / Calculate Process Data for new instrumentation and equipment.
h. Participate in Hazard Analyses.
i. Conduct various calculations for process design (i.e. relief, pump sizing, and heat transfer)
j. Provide field support for construction phase of projects.
k. Provide field support for I/O and interlock checkout.
l. Troubleshoot process, instrumentation, and equipment problems.
m. Provide field support for startup commissioning activities
n. Walk down and redline "as-built" all process documents after project has been completed.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

- Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in Process Chemical Design
- Process Flow Diagram development
- Heat & Material Balance development
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagram development (P&ID)
Preferred Skills and Education
Preferred Skills and Education:
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineering License in TN
- Experience on major ($1M+) Capital Projects
- Hazard Analysis including HAZOP, PHA, FMEA, etc.
