Sr. Process Chemical Engineer

Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is hiring a Sr. Process Chemical Engineer, to work as part of our Early Project Definition Team at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant. An ideal candidate will have broad experience in designing chemical processes and a curiosity about the inter-relationships of different departments and processes. The Sr. Process Chemical Engineer performs one or more of the following process engineering functions in support of plant modernization activities:

a. Estimate process equipment, instrumentation, and engineering hours for future modernization capital projects.
b. Be an active member of the Advance Engineering Team and effectively communicate and interface with various engineering disciplines.
c. Develop scope of work for new modernization capital projects.
d. Develop Process Flow Diagrams and Heat & Material balances for new processes.
e. Develop new and revise existing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
f. Develop new and revise existing Interlock Narratives.
g. Identify / Calculate Process data for new instrumentation and equipment.
h. Participate in hazard Analyses.
I. Conduct various calculations for process design (i.e. relief, pump sizing, and heat transfer)

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

- Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering
- 4+ Years of relevant experience
- Experience in Process Chemical Design
- Process Flow Diagram development
- Heat & Material Balance Development
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development

Preferred Skills and Education

- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineering License in TN and/or VA
- Experience on major ($1M+) Chemical Construction Capital Projects
- Hazard Analysis including HAZOP, PHA and FMEA
- Estimating process equipment, instrumentation and engineering hours for projects
