Sr. Principal Reliability/Maintainability/Safety Engineer
1. Leads, coordinates and directs both the RMS activities and a team of RMS Engineers on one or more programs. This includes: Program Planning (determination of tasks to be performed, labor estimating, scheduling, workforce planning); Cost Account Management (budgeting, scheduling, tracking actual labor expenditures with EV, SPI and CPI techniques); Program Execution (ensuring tasks are completed within budgets, schedules, providing program status to management); Evaluating the work of other RMS Engineers and providing that information to the Functional Manager; Collect and evaluate RMS Engineering metrics.
2. Interface with customers both external and internal. Must be able to prepare presentation material as to status and results of various RMS activities at customer meetings (SFR, SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR, etc.). Must be able to promote the goals of RMS on the program to the Integrated Product Development Team, Program and Engineering Management.
3. Perform RMS activities both independently and as a RMS Team Leader. These activities include: Support Architecture Trades & Technical Baseline development; RMS Program Planning, RMS Design Guidelines; Review designs for parts suitability; R&M modeling, predictions, allocations; FMEA/CA; Various RMS testing (RAT/RVT/RQT, ESS, RGT, ALT, MDT); Product Safety Analysis, Risk Assessment and Hazardous Material Analysis; FRACAS, FRB activity, 9-step Root Cause.
4. Provides reliability growth planning guidance to programs as required during life cycle phases. Plans and directs test activities; oversees trend analysis and problem identification, and Root Cause analysis. Prepares/reviews failure reports for publication. Ensures that test failure/defect information, as required, is captured with company standard tools and processes for failure data management & reporting. Responsible for “lessons learned” abstraction and capture.
