Sr Laser Engineer

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for Senior Laser Engineers to join the Hardware Engineering Lasers Capability Group. These engineers will be responsible for the design, development, manufacture, and test of complex laser systems operating in the UV/VIS/IR regions under stressing military and aerospace environments. Ideal candidates will have design and hands on experience in multiple laser technologies including but not limited to: semiconductor laser, fiber lasers, solid state lasers, non-linear optical materials and devices, optical benches, and beam directors.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment to define and analyze subsystem performance specifications and to ensure compliance to these specifications in operational environments. Ideally, the candidates will have experience with the technical aspects of developing laser and laser based products. The ideal candidate will be focused on teamwork and have the ability to productively resolve conflicts on the team. Candidates must be able to interact well with team members and optical component suppliers. The candidate will be capable of applying expertise to complex problems. The candidate will be expected to develop solutions to problems which require the use of ingenuity and innovation.

Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

- B.S. in Physics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent with 4+ years of experience working with optical systems.
- Secret clearance or eligibility to be processed for a Secret clearance.

Preferred Skills and Education

M.S. in Physics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent is preferred
